Job Description

Salary

$27.386 - $29.691

 

Schedule

Monday - Friday

 

Shift 

8 hours

 

This is a full-time contract expected to end after 12 months

 

  • Primary duty will be the collection of outstanding and overdue accounts.
  • Successful candidate will be required to handle all aspects of collection and positively represent the hospital in dealing with difficult clients.
  • Required using various methods of doing skip traces, through the use of databases, search engines and established contacts in the community.
  • Meeting with patient families, guarantors within the hospital.
  • Collections will be for both local and out of country accounts.
  • The successful candidate will be expected to make a high volume of outbound calls to clients each day. Be skilled in de-escalating upset callers.
  • Dealing with payment plans under the direction of Manager.
  • Will require knowledge of small claims courts, court proceedings, forms and fees for accounts that required legal action.
  • Will work closely with Paralegal services as required.
  • Candidate will request and interpret credit reports on clients, dealing with collection agencies and preparing collection reports.
  • Meeting targets and find ways to collect outstanding accounts.
  • Contribute to ensuring there is a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.

Skills and Qualifications:

 

  • Post secondary education in accounting preferred
  • Minimum 5 years prior collection experience required
  • Excellent data entry and keyboard skills
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize duties
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required
  • Proficient in MSWord, Excel, Outlook
  • Prior experience with HRCM preferred
  • Strong knowledge of Collection Agency Act preferred and interaction with them
  • Prior Customer Service experience and negotiation skills required
  • Previous OHIP/Accounts Receivable experience required
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of Privacy Act required
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis is required
