Job Description

The 0.8FTE PACS Facilitator will provide administration of the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), Voice Recognition System and other Information Systems within the Diagnostic Imaging program.

 

Specific Responsibilities

  • Accountable for maintenance and administration of the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), Voice Recognition System and Radiology Information System (RIS)
  • Coordinating scheduled RIS/PACS downtimes and upgrades with internal stakeholders and external vendors
  • Liaise with radiologists, technologists, clerical staff and other hospital departments to implement changes/enhancements to workflows
  • Ensuring reports are crossing through various interfaces and are being delivered to the referring physicians
  • Provide Support and training to all end users
  • Ensuring that all exams are put into taken status by technologists in order to be reported
  • Exam corrections such as marker corrections and exam code corrections
  • Assistance with connections to provincial and regional information systems, including but not limited to, Ocean eReferrals, Diagnostic Imaging Repository (DI-r, etc.)
  • Managing PocketHealth account creation and image transfers
  • Implementing new technology ensuring regulatory requirements and education of staff and the safe and effective use of information systems are met
  • Importing imaging from other facilities
  • Troubleshooting in conjunction with internal and external stakeholders
  • Other duties as assigned by the DI leadership team

 

Knowledge & Skill

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience as a registered health professional (MRT) or PACS/RIS administrator required
  • Excellent knowledge of workflow within the Diagnostic Imaging Department, related to PACS, RIS, and VR systems is required to be successful
  • Demonstrated prior leadership accomplishments, service improvement achievements and staff development required
  • Advanced knowledge of Meditech and/or Sectra PACS would be an asset
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills and prior accomplishments in project management
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality

 

Accountabilities

  • Triage and troubleshoot system issues prior to escalating to IT and external vendors
  • Ensuring all data is entered correctly and on time
  • Completing any edits/correcting errors so that CMH is paid correctly (OHIP)
  • Assisting the DI leadership in the implementation of all DI technical projects
  • Providing guidance and learning opportunities for staff related to PACS initiatives
  • Supporting a work culture where every individual can reach their full potential
