Job Description

Salary

$26.783 - $29.038

 

The Medical Transcriptionist will transcribe/ edit medical reports recorded by physicians and other healthcare transcription for all clinical work types such as using the hospital dictation system including in order to document patient care and facilitate delivery of healthcare services. They must be able to manage a fast pace and high volume workload. This position will be responsible for engaging with the physicians and being a key point of contact with the physicians for training and onboarding to the dictation system / tools and front end speech.

The successful incumbent must be able to monitor the transcription system for meeting expected turnaround times while managing users within the system and routing to in-house/ external transcription teams that are crucial to sustaining turn around times, while productivity and accuracy of standards are maintained. Must have experience and knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, clinical medicine, surgery, diagnostic tests, radiology, pharmacology, pathology, and the various medical specialties as required in areas of responsibility. Will also provide general transcription support for the hospital. The physical demands of the role may include but are not limited to prolonged sitting, standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing and pulling.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of a Recognized Transcription Certificate and/or equivalent experience and continuing education is required
  • At least 5 years of experience in Medical Transcription in a Hospital setting is required
  • Completion of Medical Terminology course required
  • Must have knowledge of anatomy, physiology, clinical medicine, surgery, diagnostic tests, radiology, pathology, and the various medical specialties as required in areas of responsibility.
  • Knowledge of pharmacology including medications/dosages is required
  • Demonstrated understanding of medical transcription guidelines and practices, as well as experience with diverse accents, dialects and varying dictation styles is required
  • Ability to use designated reference materials and operate designated word processing, dictation and transcription equipment and other equipment as specified
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a typing speed of 75 wpm with over 80% accuracy and minimal error.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills (proficiency in English writing and grammar) is required
  • Knowledge of MS Office, in particular MS Word is required
  • Regular attendance is required
