Job Description

Salary Range:  $17-60- $22.00/hour

 

The role of the Student is to support the Facilities / Construction team members in their goal of managing various projects at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital. Responsibilities will vary from coordinating day to day details on multiple projects, to updating filing systems and ensuring project documentation is current.  This individual must be adaptable, able to priortize workload and have excellent verbal and written communication skills to support the team members in effectively delivering their projects.

 

Much of the Student’s time will be spent job shadowing Construction Manager This will require the Student to be highly adaptive by means of switching job functions at a moment’s notice, for example performing a coordination function such as phone calls and emails with venders and having to drop that function to attend impromptu meetings.  The Team will encourage the Student to attend multiple meetings involving design, construction, operations, clinical impacts, and others, which may or may not have any follow up items tasked, the point of this is to provide an educational experience for the Student to see how it’s done in an professional application setting so that this knowledge can be used and grown from well freeing up the time of the Team to manage higher level tasks.

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with Clinical Leads and Consultants under the supervision of the Project Manager
  • Assist the Manager of Facilities and with various projects, including equipment planning, relocation planning, and other projects/tasks as requested.
  • Assist the Construction Project Manager with duties as requested.
  • Attend meetings and record minutes, file, and distribute information as needed.
  • Coordinate delivery of small valued projects under the supervision of the Project Manager of Construction by means of obtaining quotes, executing purchase requests, and coordinating installations.
  • Assist Managers with on-going Projects, RFPs, and perform tasks as requested
  • Any other responsibilities as they arise.
  • Contributes to ensuring there is a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors

 Skills and Qualifications:

  • Current post-secondary student enrolled in a program based either in infrastructure, construction, project management, and/or related field, consideration will also be given if you are enrolled in other post-secondary programs but must have direct industry related experience as related to the items above
  • Strong understanding of how to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work both within a team setting as well as independently
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Proficiency in general computer skills, ie) MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel
  • Specific experience in AutoCAD is an asset
  • Experience with CCDC 2 Contracts is an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis

 Requirements:

*This position is full-time working days and possible occasional weekend but is subject to change.
