Job Description

The Printer is responsible for, but not limited to, the development, maintenance and production of the Health Record, including templates, paper orders, etc.; maintenance of Forms, flow sheets, physician’s order, MAR’s, data base and populating SharePoint Forms section (website). Strict attention to detail required to ensure all form changes are accurate and revision history updated. Maintain MIS data base to track form development and revision (500+ forms currently in use). Attend Forms Committee. Along with Clinical Educators and department Managers, design, maintain and produce Health Information Management Record, preoperative/postoperative information, clinical trial orders & medication records, “lunch & learn” bulletins, educational materials for Best Practice (posters, handouts, manuals), all materials pertinent to patient care, pdf’s for on-line, print-on-demand use. Support for education events such as Nurse’s week, Best Practice Fair) and production of hospital signage, Infection Control precautions.

Knowledge of all print shop equipment required; Xerox printer that can produce carbon copies, folded pamphlets, staple orders, hole punch.  Lamination machine & bound books.  Production of tear off pads.

This role requires lifting up to 50 lbs.  The working hours are day shifts.

This position contributes to ensuring there is a safe and positive environment for patients, staff and visitors.

Posted hours do not constitute a guarantee that shifts will not be subject to change.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Successful completion of Secondary School required
  • Schooling to proficiency in the full Adobe Suite (In-Design, Photoshop, etc.) and the Corel Suite required
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience in Adobe, Corel Suite and associated software required.
  • Firm grasp of medical/pharmacological terminology required
  • Keyboard skills are essential
  • Must have excellent communication skills; both verbal and written
  • Must have excellent organizational, interpersonal and time management skills
  • Must have excellent problem solving skills partnered with an attention to detail
  • Team player and willing to upgrade skills and abilities as job dictates
  • Must have good conflict resolution skills
  • Must be able to meet schedules and deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated ability of attendance on a regular basis is required
  • Previous hospital experience with Meditech Materials Management module required
