Job Description

$26.769 - 27.392

 

 

Position Summary:

The Perioperative Supply Clerk is responsible to provide daily support for the ordering and stocking of inventory and supplies in collaboration with the Operating Room (OR) Buyer, Charge Nurse, nursing staff, Clinical Education Facilitator (CEF), MDRD and Manager.  This position provides over sight of consignment inventory including the return/exchange of all consignment inventories with vendors to ensure dating integrity (in partnership with OR Buyer). Organizes instrument/equipment trials with the CEF and the OR buyer.  Works with Distribution staff to maintain par levels and sufficient inventory by completing requisitions for daily ordering; and with MDRD and Distribution to provide quality exchange of supplies/equipment and appropriate levels of inventory.  Ensures maintenance of specific quality monitoring activities with regards to purchasing, storage and utilization of supplies/equipment in collaboration with Distribution staff.  Reviews OR schedule with the Charge Nurse to ensure special equipment and products are ordered in time for cases.  Acts as the primary contact for equipment repair processes and a key contact for recall processes. Other duties include (but are not limited to) identifying areas for improvement and attending meetings with Manager, Buyer, Charge Nurse, MDRD. This position contributes to ensuring there is a safe and positive environment for patients, staff and visitors.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Two (2) years of current experience in operating room setting and inventory management experience required
  • Successful completion of secondary school required
  • CSAO certification required
  • Good math skills; experience working with numbers, an asset
  • Recent knowledge of surgical procedures and terminology is necessary
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, excel, word required
  • Previous hospital experience with Meditech Materials Management module preferred
  • Must have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to meet schedules and deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Must be able to work as a team player
  • Regular attendance is required
