Days , Rotating Weekends and rotating holidays

Position Summary:

This is a full time position that will work predominantly day shifts but will include weekends, evenings and statutory holidays as required. In this position you will be expected to perform all building maintenance activities.  This also includes plumbing specific work in maintaining and installing plumbing systems throughout the hospital, (installing, constructing, replacing or repairing fixtures, structures, pipes and equipment).  The physical demands of the role may include but are not limited to prolonged sitting, standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing and pulling.  This position contributes to ensuring there is a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.

 

Posted hours do not constitute a guarantee that shifts will not be subject to change.

 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Five (5) years of recent experience in plumbing maintenance in an institutional healthcare setting.
  • Ability to work with all types of pipes and systems including steel pipe for steam supply condensate lines.
  • Must hold and have a valid 306A Plumber certificate.
  • Must be able to work independently within the team structure.
  • Team work is a priority and staff must be willing to work with and assist co-workers as needed within all aspects of Facility work and not only plumbing.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination to ensure safe handling of all equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize work assignments and respond to emergencies in a timely manner, including both during work hours and on “call backs”.
  • Effective communication and planning skills.
  • Consistently demonstrates the values of the hospital, (Collaboration, Caring, Accountability, Innovation, and Respect).
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis is required.
  • Must have a strong safety background with the ability follow and utilize all safety equipment and PPE requirements at all times.
  • Ability to bend, kneel and climb for inspection purposes and lift 15 Kgs above your head is required
  • Ability to learn and utilize technology and software as required for the position, (iPads, computers, CMMS software, email, etc.).
