Job Description

$35.365 - 35.970

Expected Average Number of Hours: (not a guarantee of hours)  Full time hours

 

 

Reporting to the Manager of the Nursing Resource Team, the Registered Practical Nurse provides personal care for patients and supports patient flow within the hospital as required. The Registered Practical Nurse communicates effectively with patients, staff and families, and provides excellent customer service at all times.  Responsibilities include assisting patients with activities of daily living and measuring vital signs, and practicing to the scope of their education. Documentation in the electronic record is required for care provided. This position works co-operatively with team members and receives direction from staff.  The incumbent demonstrates professional responsibility and demonstrates actions consistent with hospital policies and procedures. This is a full-time position to work all shifts including days, nights and evenings, as well as weekends and holidays. 

 

Posted hours do not constitute a guarantee that shifts will not be subject to change.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:                           

  • Must be a graduate of a recognized School of Nursing, RPN Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Medication Administration course required.
  • Must have current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Experience required with IV Therapy/blood products, pain management pumps, general assessment, chest percussion/O2 sats, G-tube feedings, and glucometers.
  • Must have current CPR.
  • Must be flexible about assignment location.      
  • Keyboarding skills and knowledge of Meditech an asset.
  • Physical demands of the job include constant walking, standing, bending, reaching and lifting.
  • Should demonstrate commitment to a multidisciplinary, team-centered patient care environment.
  • Regular attendance is required.
